Work We Have Done

Work We Have Done

These are a selection of some the projects we have been involved in over the years, showcasing our expertise and experience.

Product Development & Communication Strategy

THE BRIEF

To assist with product development and facilitate a communication strategy for the launch of new products.

WHAT WE DID

We advised on the development and improvement of medical nutrition products used to treat malnutrition and identified current obstacles to the uptake of new products. We also worked with the business development and communications managers to facilitate a communication strategy for their launch. Our involvement on this project meant our client, the UK arm of a global pharmaceutical company successfully re-launched their medical nutrition products range.

Consumer Resource Development

THE BRIEF

To write and develop a recipe book promoting affordable healthy eating and food waste reduction messages.

WHAT WE DID

We led on research, curated and developed suitable recipes and an accompanying meal plan based on these recipes. Prior to this we conducted local research to understand the needs and tastes of the target audience whilst ensuring that general and specific nutrition criteria were met. Throughout the project we liaised with the client’s nutrition team, project manager and designer. The end result is a recipe book for the Sainsbury’s Waste Less, Save More campaign.

It was a joy to work with Illumina Lifestyle Consulting on the Sainsbury’s
Waste, Less Save More
recipe book and meal plan. Their expertise and professionalism led to the swift creation of a highly useful resource which was incredibly well received by the community and client [Sainsbury’s]. We look forward to working with them again

Consumer Insights & Website Development

THE BRIEF

To ensure the diet and lifestyle content of this international client’s website is relevant and user-friendly for use by its UK members.

WHAT WE DID

We provided insights on UK developments, research and guidelines in nutrition and health to our client and customised the diet and lifestyle information and assessment tools on the member zone of their website, ensuring that it reflected content suitable for UK-based members. This included recipes, articles and meal plans. We also engaged with members, providing expert diet and lifestyle advice in response to queries on nutrition, health and lifestyle-related issues e.g. stress via the client’s ‘Ask the Expert’ online facility.

Hospital Menu Development

THE BRIEF

To design and develop a range of menus to meet the nutritional needs of service users of a healthcare portfolio spanning 27 sites.

WHAT WE DID

We assisted with menu design and development, providing guidance to the client’s catering manager. We also reviewed all proposed menus to ensure that the nutritional content met national standards and encompassed all reasonable dietary requirements, religious beliefs and a wide range of cultural diets. We also conducted audits, provided staff training, led on performance management and met regularly with key stakeholders on behalf of our client.

Healthcare Catering Compliance

THE BRIEF

To ensure client menus are compliant with national hospital nutrition and safety standards, legislation and guidance.

WHAT WE DID

We brought clarity to the client’s catering contract specifications and strategically negotiated better quality products from the client’s contractor to benefit client stakeholders. We also gave direction, organisation and leadership to client and contractor teams whilst satisfying the needs of different stakeholders. We standardised processes and procedures at our client’s 650-bed facility and trained food service staff to ensure good service delivery was replicated across all points of service. Our input improved client compliance significantly.

Public Health Initiative Targeting the UK West African Community

THE BRIEF

To provide a range of activities and tools to encourage consumers from the West African community and healthcare professionals who work with this community to engage with the 8 key Change4Life messages.

WHAT WE DID

We developed culturally relevant case studies and healthier West African recipes for the Department of Health’s £75million national Change4Life anti-obesity campaign. We provided a dietitian/lifestyle expert to engage with consumers and healthcare professionals and create buy-in through bespoke presentations and coaching workshops at conferences aimed at the target audiences. Our dietitan was a media spokesperson for the Change4Life campaign and also provided a cooking demonstration showcasing our healthier recipes in front of a ‘live’ audience for the campaign.

Editorial Content

THE BRIEF

To provide regular editorial content for client’s programme supplement.

WHAT WE DID

We contributed regular articles on a variety of nutrition topics to this weekly glossy mini-magazine distributed to 320,000 Weight Watchers members every week. As well as timely and topical features on nutrition, the magazine features product news and behaviour, as well as delicious recipes and expert advice.

Corporate/Employee Health & Wellbeing

THE BRIEF

To promote healthy eating and living to client’s employees and motivate healthy diet and lifestyle change.

WHAT WE DID

As part of occupational health initiatives to improve employee health and wellbeing, we created a food display aimed at inspiring healthy eating and snacking amongst employees. The aim was to stimulate conversation around healthy eating and the myths surrounding it. Following screening and risk-assessment for diabetes, heart disease, overweight and obesity, we provided behavioural change coaching to address specific challenges faced by employees. This included practical tools and strategies to help employees incorporate healthy meals, snacks and physical activity into their working day as well as weight loss advice to employees seeking to kick-start their weight loss journey.
